GLACIAL LAKES CHICAGO, SAGINAW AND MAUMEE

Glacial lake plains tend to be flat, almost featureless plains.  The flatness is due to wave-beveling of the preexisting landscape, and infilling of low spots by lake sediments such as clay.  The image below is of the Lake Saginaw plain near Saginaw.


This (below) is how the lakes looked about 13,500 years ago.
