LAND USE

Michigan, rich in so many gifts of Nature, is singularly blessed with that common denominator of all resources – land. In Michigan, there is land for agriculture, for forestry, for industry and land for recreation. Few if any other states can boast such variability of landforms, such a multiplicity of soil types. Because Michigan’s land is so complex, the problem of land management is particularly complicated. Michigan probably has made as much progress in agriculture, soil conservation, and long range land planning as most states, but we still have much to do and much to learn in all phases of the broad and vital subject: land use.
