Introduction
This handbook describes the undergraduate programs in Geography at Michigan State University. Included are summaries of the requirements for the baccalaureate degrees in Geography (B.A. and B.S.) and GIScience, requirements for the Specialization in Spatial Information Processing, and the requirements for the teaching minor in Geography. It is also a useful source for other information related to the undergraduate majors in Geography and to resources available to students throughout the University.
Consultation with the Geography undergraduate advisor is essential. Students are urged to meet with the advisor regularly and frequently to make sure their programs of study will fulfill graduation requirements. Each student is individually responsible for being aware of and for meeting all graduation requirements.
Members of the faculty can also be very helpful in planning your academic program. They are especially knowledgeable about their own areas of specialization and they can provide good advice and suitable suggestions. Get to know your professors. You will find them friendly and accessible.
