GEOGRAPHY 204-V: World Regional Geography
World Regional Geography is a course whose relevance is on the upswing. In this era of increased globalization, it is imperative to have a population that is globally conscientious since it is no longer realistic to declare that one need not care about the rest of the world. In addition to the implications of 9/11, even small corporations based in Michigan need personnel that are cognizant of places other than their own, due to complex globalized webs and supply chains, as well as cultural customs that play a role in business negotiations.
This course is designed to make you more globally aware. Specifically, it aims to provide you with:
- an appreciation for the diversity of human culture throughout the world's geographic realms and regions;
- a better understanding of the physical and cultural landscapes in the world's geographic realms and the interactions between these landscapes;
- a glance at global patterns/trends and interregional linkages whose far-reaching impacts are changing lives around the globe; and
- a survey of geographic concepts and phenomena as they pertain to specific geographic realms.
Furthermore, this course is ideal for students wishing to gain global geographical knowledge, expand their understanding of world realms, gain insight into world issues, and challenge themselves to expand their intellectual horizons and global perspective.
When is GEO 204-V offered?
At least one section of the course is offered during the First and Second Summer Sessions; it may also be offered during the Spring Semester. See the Schedule of Courses for more details.
