The primary
purpose of Physical Geography is to provide you with an overview
of the physical environment in which we live. Toward that end, a variety
of topics are covered -- many of which are interconnected. In addition,
the course is constructed to provide the following:
- an awareness
of the important concepts, facts, and terminology of physical geography;
- an introduction
into the way natural systems function at global and regional scales;
- an appreciation
of the interrelationships between humans and their environment; and
- a substantial
foundation that is needed for further studies in physical geography
and is supplementary to studies in human geography. This course provides
a very useful foundation for the other Virtual Geography courses.
This course
is ideal for students wishing to develop a fundamental understanding of
Earth systems and gain a greater appreciation for the physical landscapes
around them.
